ABOUT ME
Hi! My name is Sophie Grosfield and I am currently a senior in high school that is passionate about the government, law, public policy and political campaigning. My interest in this area started when I read the book Just Mercy the summer before my eighth grade year. In this book, I discovered how an innocent man could be wrongly convicted of murder and unjustly sentenced to death. I questioned how our U.S. court system and government could appear so virtuous and fair, while also being so internally flawed. I came to understand, unfortunately, that justice and equal and fair representation in America is far from a guarantee. It's a responsibility upheld by a system that must be willing to confront its own failures. What I learned from this book inspired me to join the Law Review Club at my school and work for the Dini for Hoboken mayoral campaign. I want to take part in filling our justice systems and governments with political leaders that fairly represent and care for the people. I believe that it is vital for more young people to work towards a future where we can learn to have calm political conversations, engage with different viewpoints, and create a more equitable system for all. This blog is intended to inform young people on the lessons I learned during my time working for the Dini for Hoboken campaign as well as provide resources and ideas for young individuals to get involved in the government and campaigning!
